One of the great unfairnesses of the holiday season is that it's simultaneously the time of year where your social engagements kick into high gear—parties, family gatherings, office to-dos—and also the time when the weather can make keeping your skin in glowing shape all the more difficult. With dry air sapping the moisture for your complexion, made all the worse by air travel, dullness can settle in fast—and be preserved forever in all of those end of year photo opportunities.

Fortunately, instead of being haunted by the ghosts of skincare failures past, a few years ago I discovered the Savor Beauty Pumpkin Enzyme Peel and it's become my end of year go-to ever since.

The fact the pumpkin puree the peel is made with gives the treatment an amazing pumpkin spice aroma is certainly an on-theme bonus, but the real boon of working some of the season's signature squash into your facial routine is that pumpkin enzymes naturally contain skin-smoothing alpha-hydroxy acids (also known as AHAs) which, combined with the peel's added and 5% lactic acid, work to chemically exfoliate skin.

A dermatologist favorite, chemical exfoliation differs from physical exfoliation (think: facial scrubs) because it breaks down dead skin cells clinging to the skin's surface rather than manually sloughing them away, which makes the experience more gentle on skin and less prone to creating micro-damage to the skin's surface. But while some peels can take upwards of 20 minutes to get full effect, this speedy version only needs to sit on your skin for 1-3 minutes to reveal fresh, camera-ready skin. Considering that around this time of year I always seem to be pressed for time, I can't think of a better bang-for-your-buck solution to look party-ready in a flash.
