- The European Union's competition watchdog intends to block Amazon's $1.7 billion bid to purchase Roomba maker iRobot.

- Amazon.com logistics executive John Felton is taking over as chief financial officer of the company's cloud division, Amazon Web Services.

- Macy's plans to lay off about 13% of its corporate staff and close five stores in a bid to trim costs and redirect spending to improve the shopping experience for customers.
