Were you one of the lucky winners in August's National Savings and Investments (NS&I) premium bonds draw? Once again, two lucky players won £1m each this month.

The first winning bond number drawn was 516FV135553 and is held by a winner based in Outer London. The winner has £25,000 in premium bonds and purchased their winning bond in October 2022. They become the twelfth £1m jackpot winner from Outer London.

The second winning bond number drawn was 245FP902498 by a new millionaire from Devon. The winner holds £30,275 in premium bonds and purchased the winning Bond in May 2015. They are the eighteenth jackpot millionaire from Devon.

Andrew Westhead, NS&I Retail Director, said: “It’s not just about our jackpot winners though, as we’re paying out over £457m in prizes this month. One winner from Kent scooped £100,000 with only a £100 holding in Premium Bonds. Another £100,000 winner bought their winning bond nearly 30 years ago in 1995 — I hope it was worth the wait!

“The best way to receive prizes hassle-free is to have them paid direct to your bank account, or automatically reinvested into more Premium Bonds.”

Unlike other investments, where investors earn interest or a regular dividend income, bonds are entered into a monthly prize draw where people can win between £25 and £1m.

The chances of all bonds winning are the same, regardless of when or where they were bought. Even if you did not get a winning ticket, be sure to check any unclaimed prizes.

Prizes do not expire, meaning you can claim as far back as the original 1957 draw. Premium bonds holders can reduce the chances of their prizes becoming unclaimed by managing their premium bonds online or opting to have any prizes paid directly into their bank accounts by BACS, with notification by email.

In Outer London, there are 235,985 prizes worth £8.2m that are yet to be claimed. In Devon, there are 40,729 unclaimed prizes worth £1.3m.

A total of 5.93 million prizes worth £457m will be paid out in the June August prize draw. There were 124,653,374,131 bond numbers eligible for the draw.

Customers can check the premium bonds prize checker on the NS&I website or download the app to see if they have won. All Premium Bonds prizes are free of UK Income Tax and Capital Gains Tax.

The odds of any £1 Bond number winning a prize are 21,000 to one. The prize fund rate for Premium Bonds is 4.40%.
