Pope Francis begins his six-day U.S. visit today, with 18 scheduled stops in three states.
This afternoon, the pope arrives in Washington, D.C., where President Obama, Vice President Biden, and the first and second ladies will personally welcome him. While in D.C., the pope will conduct a midday prayer with U.S. bishops, speak with Congress and visit St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
Next, he heads to New York City, where he will visit the United Nations General-Assembly, hold a multi-religious service at the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, visit Our Lady Queen of Angels School in East Harlem, and hold mass at Madison Square Garden.
His final destination is Philadelphia, where he will attend the Festival of Families at Benjamin Franklin Parkway and visit the Independence Mall.
And, on his last day in the U.S., Pope Francis will visit the largest supermax jail in Philadelphia. Yahoo's Global News Anchor Katie Couric got an extremely rare look behind the walls of Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility and met the inmates the pope will talk to, many of whom are trying to find faith under the most difficult of circumstances.
