Party while remaining sober at Wellbeing Bar, an alcohol-free event in Charlotte
The Counterculture Club is holding an alcohol-free party called Wellbeing Bar in Wesley Heights on Friday, Oct. 22 that will include food, drinks, live music and tarot card readings.
The Counterculture Club is an alcohol-free community in Charlotte that offers a monthly membership for women, as well as sobriety coaching and events for the public in Charlotte. The group has partnered with Hygge Coworking, Athletic Brewing, Kin Euphorics, Not Just Coffee, Your Farms Your Table, the Champagne Problems Podcast, Harvest & Moon and Updog Kombucha to create the event.
“It can be really challenging to find friends and ways to socialize as a non-drinker in a boozy world,” Counterculture Club founder Molly Ruggere told CharlotteFive. “Wellbeing Bar is an opportunity for the larger Charlotte community to experience what goes on inside our membership every day — socializing with like-minded people and building authentic connections in a safe space where alcohol is irrelevant.”

‘Normalize the discussion around alcohol’
Champagne Problems Podcast creator Robbie Shaw, one of the event’s sponsors, said that after hosting Ruggere on his podcast, he knew immediately he wanted to team up with Counterculture Club.
“The goal of our podcast is to normalize the discussion around alcohol and to ultimately keep a very open mind about the various methods and mentalities behind staying happy and healthy. ... Now we are set on a path forward to create a safe space for people who want to socialize without alcohol. We are all very excited.”
Wellbeing Bar is more than just a party, Ruggere said. “It’s an opportunity for anyone, regardless of whether they drink or not, to enjoy delicious, locally sourced food, sophisticated alcohol-free drinks and explore a new way to socialize without alcohol. “We’ve already had an incredible response from the community with so many people buying tickets to this event, and this feedback further proves that alcohol-free communities and events like ours are wanted and needed in Charlotte.”
