One of the Rarest Nissan Skyline GT-Rs Is Up for Grabs

Here in the United States, few Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) cars are as prized as the R34-generation Nissan Skyline GT-R. They regularly fetch six figures here in the USA despite being at least 25 years old — which, of course, is the only reason they can legally be bought and sold here. Now, one of the rarest versions of this already haloed car is going up for sale. You can even buy it... if you have the means.

Listed for sale over at Bring A Trailer (which, like Road & Track, is part of Hearst Autos), this 1999 Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec N1 is one of approximately 38 examples like it ever made. Like the rest of the GT-Rs from this era, it comes equipped with a 2.6-liter RB26DETT inline-six. Power routes to all four wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox — and famously, this car is claimed to make 276 horsepower, although it's believed to actually make significantly more.

The V-Spec treatment adds more performance features, including a modified active limited-slip differential controlled by a viscous coupling. The diffusers at both the front and rear are unique to the V-Spec, with specialized venturi design. In fact, the rear one is made of carbon fiber — a rarity at this car's point in history, at least for a Nissan. The suspension is also stiffer than the one found in the regular R34 GT-R.

Nissan also included what it calls ATTESA E-TS Pro; in effect, it's an advanced all-wheel-drive system that can control torque split not just between the front and rear axles but between the left and right wheels.

Notably, the front differential is unchanged from the standard GT-R. Being an N1, this car came without a rear fog light, a rear window wiper, or insulated glass. All V-Spec N1 models arrived in this same paint color.

As of this story's publication on October 4, the bidding sits at $132,777 with almost an entire week to go. Currently the car sits in San Francisco, California with a clean Virginia title. It'll also come with all of its import documents, factory literature, and Japanese inspection records. Oh, and it has just 14,000 miles on the odometer — so it has plenty of life left for you to fulfill your Gran Turismo dreams in this GT-R V-Spec N1.
