Rising US labor costs threaten to derail new LNG projects
A shortage of skilled labor and nagging inflation from strong wage growth on the U.S. Gulf Coast are pressuring liquefied natural gas (LNG) developers and delaying some projects from reaching a financial go-ahead. There are five LNG plants under development in Texas and Louisiana and 16 others on the drawing board in the U.S. looking to secure investment and customers. The five under construction would add a combined 86.6 million metric tons per annum (MTPA) of the superchilled gas, enough to keep the U.S. as the world's largest exporter for years to come.

Gaps in EU's preparation for potential gas crises, auditors say
The European Union is insufficiently prepared to weather a future gas crisis despite introducing a raft of measures to end its dependence on Russian energy, the European Court of Auditors said on Monday. Europe's energy supply was upended in 2022 when former top gas supplier Russia invaded Ukraine and slashed fuel deliveries, prompting the EU to introduce emergency policies to fill gas storage, reduce gas use, and jointly buy gas. Europe managed to avoid a major gas shortage during the crisis, but it is unclear how much of that can be credited to EU policies versus other factors like mild winter weather and high prices causing industries to use less gas, the ECA said in a report on Monday.

China and Poland have agreed to cooperate on electric vehicles despite the European Union's recent decision to raise tariffs on Chinese imports. "Both sides will support the growth of two-way investments in electric vehicles, green development, logistics and other sectors," a joint action plan for 2024-27 said. Investors’ confidence has been hit Tuesday after the sharp losses to the Big Tech sector on Wall Street overnight, with the Nasdaq Composite index closing almost 200 points, or 1,1% lower. Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) bore a brunt of the selling, falling 6.7% and tumbling for a third straight session after it briefly became the most valuable company on Wall Street last week. Analysts underestimated how quickly AI would grow: Arm CEO
Arm Holdings (ARM) was added to the Nasdaq 100 (^NDX) on Monday as shares are up nearly 140% since its public debut in September. Arm Holdings CEO Rene Haas joins Market Domination Overtime to discuss the milestone and the British semiconductor company's outlook. Haas states that AI "is going to really, really change people's lives in terms of productivity, whether that's call centers that can become 100% automated, healthcare, bio-research where you can cut the research of a cancer drug from ten years to five years to three years. This is all going to be capable with AI. And then every device that we use, the data center, the automobile, your PC, your smartphone, they all need to run AI. There's no quibble around that." He notes that 70% of the world's devices use Arm chips, positioning them well in the overall AI race. He adds, "I think respectfully, the analysts maybe didn't quite understand or have an appreciation at the pace of which things were moving," pointing to how quickly AI has grown.
