Murder probe after woman, 27, dies at London block of flats and man found dead hours later

A murder investigation has been launched after a 27-year-old woman died at a block of flats - with a man found dead hours later after a fall from height.

Police were called to the block of flats in Elephant Road in Southwark, London, shortly before 4pm on Thursday.

The woman was found with serious injuries and died at the scene.

The Metropolitan Police said the 31-year-old man was later found dead at New Change in the City of London shortly before 8.45pm.

The two people were known to each other, the force added.

The locations are about a 15-minute drive away from each other.

Detective Inspector Mike Nolan said: "We know that local people will be shocked by this incident, and while we are at the very early stages of our investigation, I would like to reassure the community that we don't believe that any other persons are outstanding in connection with this tragic sequence of events."

He urged anyone with any information on the incident to contact police if they haven't already done so.

Superintendent Rachael Walmsley added: "My thoughts are with those affected by this tragic accident."
