Monopoly in the real world: property values for Boardwalk, Baltic and more

If you've ever played Monopoly (and Hasbro estimates that about half a billion people have), you've probably wondered about those property values. Is Mediterranean really such a lowly location? Is Boardwalk as premium as it seems?

Wonder no more. Our friends at Movoto.com -- a real estate website and full-service brokerage with advanced search tools -- have done the research so you don't have to. They looked into properties for sale in Atlantic City, N.J., Monopoly's setting, to compare game-board values to real life. Maybe next time you won't be so quick to turn up your nose at Baltic …

(Note: The "then" prices you see here are the prices within the board game's world, but as far as we or Movoto can tell, they never corresponded to real-world property values, even when the game came out in the 1930s.)
