Megan Ellison Snags Wasserman Estate in Beverly Hills

An unassuming estate concealed behind a high hedge in a tony pocket of Beverly Hills was sold, according to property records, by Hollywood heavyweight Lew Wasserman’s philanthropic daughter Lynne Wasserman to an inscrutable blind trust for $13.5 million. All but unassailable real estate yenta Yolanda Yakketyyak swears on her celery-colored 1987 Cadillac Seville that the trust’s beneficiary is heiress and powerhouse movie producer Megan Ellison.

The hush-hush deal went down off market, and this property gossip was unable turn up any marketing materials that describe the estate’s features. However, our research suggests Wasserman, mother of media entrepreneur and sports-management exec Casey Wasserman, acquired the spread some time before 1972. Public tax records indicate the 5,600-square-foot multi-winged residence has five bedrooms and eight bathrooms. A semicircular drive arcs up to the front of the house and, at the back, there’s a terrace and pool.

Who knows why Ellison, the three-time Oscar-nominated producer of “Zero Dark Thirty” and “American Hustle,” bought the BevHills estate — she already owns a more grandiose compound in the neighborhood above Laurel Canyon, pieced together between late 2013 and spring 2015 at a cost of about $35 million. The 9,200-square-foot spaceship-like main house is a rather infamous former party pad where, before she bought it, numerous commercials and porn films were shot. She also keeps a pied-à-terre at the Police Building in downtown Manhattan that she picked up in June 2013 for $2.9 million. That property features a circular living room under a skylighted, domed ceiling.

As for Wasserman, she downsized to a snazzy 3,500-square-foot Hollywood Regency cottage originally designed by acclaimed architect John Elgin Woolf, just above the Sunset Strip, and sold for $5.35 million by fellow Hollywood scion John Goldwyn and his hotelier husband Jeffrey Klein.
