TORONTO, April 30, 2024 /CNW/ - On Wednesday, May 1, the Canadian Centre for Caregiving Excellence (CCCE) will release a detailed report on the state of care in Canada, bringing together a panel of experts and people with lived experience to discuss the findings from a survey completed by over 3,000 caregivers and care providers across the country.

The report, Caring in Canada: Survey insights from caregivers and care providers across Canada, dives into the impacts of care on working caregivers, the financial cost of caring, experiences of underserved communities, including racialized caregivers, Indigenous caregivers, LGBTQ+, young caregivers and siblings, and the experiences of paid care providers. It also dives into policy solutions to address the issues faced by those who give care and make Canada the greatest place in the world to give and receive care.

Highlights from the report include an urgent need for better mental health and financial supports, with caregivers and care providers struggling differently between provinces, age groups and backgrounds.
