Macy's (M) Stock Sinks As Market Gains: What You Should Know

In the latest trading session, Macy's (M) closed at $21.52, marking a -0.6% move from the previous day. This change lagged the S&P 500's daily gain of 0.38%. Elsewhere, the Dow lost 0.04%, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq added 0.73%.

Heading into today, shares of the department store operator had gained 3.39% over the past month, lagging the Retail-Wholesale sector's gain of 5.06% and outpacing the S&P 500's gain of 3.19% in that time.

Investors will be hoping for strength from M as it approaches its next earnings release. In that report, analysts expect M to post earnings of $0.46 per share. This would mark a year-over-year decline of 22.03%. Our most recent consensus estimate is calling for quarterly revenue of $5.63 billion, up 1.02% from the year-ago period.

M's full-year Zacks Consensus Estimates are calling for earnings of $3.12 per share and revenue of $25.11 billion. These results would represent year-over-year changes of -25.36% and +0.57%, respectively.
