With the inaugural running of the modern Las Vegas Grand Prix just one week away, astronomical ticket and hotel prices announced last year have started to drop. While that is bad news for people who purchased high-priced options well in advance, it is good news for Formula 1 fans hoping for a slightly more affordable way to see the series race close to America's west coast.

Hotel prices tracked by local CBS affiliate 8 News Now are down substantially from their originally announced prices in November of last year, with some hotels now offering rooms for the race weekend at a lower price than their room rates for a regular weekend in 2022. The most affordable stay that could be booked a year in advance last year came in at $566 per night on average over a three-day stay, but many hotels further from the race track built into the city's famous Strip are now offering rooms at below $200 per night. One hotel, the Delano, has dropped its price by over $1000 per night. Major resorts within and near the track, like the Bellagio and the Aria, are still offering their most affordable rooms at above $1000 per night, but even their rates are down from the prices listed in 2022.

Ticket prices follow the same trend. According to data provided to CNN by TickPick, the average "get-in" price has dropped from $1645 to $1060 over just the past month. That news comes after signs that potentially indicated bad news for early ticket sales. Those included a sale for Nevada residents that ultimately provided an unsubstantial discount and word that one previously announced grandstand would not be constructed due to concerns over the sight lines spectators would have from their seats.

The race, which is scheduled to be run late at night on Saturday to both showcase the lights of the city and benefit European TV viewers, is just one week away. Current forecasts suggest frigid overnight lows in the 40s throughout the race weekend.
