Yahoo Finance Kyle Larson Dominates Bristol Night Race, 12 Drivers Move On in NASCAR Playoffs
Kyle Larson passed Hendrick greats this Saturday night in the Bass Pro Shop Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway, leading 462 of 500 laps, the most led by any Hendrick driver in a single race. Larson started on the outside pole and secured both stage wins.
"We dominate a lot of races, but we might not close them all out," Larson said in his post-race interview.
In the regular season finale, Larson won both stages and led 263 laps before ultimately finishing fourth.
When X user Trey Martin compared his win percentage after leading 200 or more laps to current and past drivers, Larson did not fare well, only converting a 200+ lap led race into a win three out of 11 times. Larson responded with a "Cool Story Bro" GIF, proving that he saw this analysis.

With his dominating Bristol win, he moves up to an even 25% conversion rate.
Larson crashed in the NASCAR Playoffs' opening round at Atlanta after narrowly losing the Regular Season Championship due to his missed race at Charlotte Motor Speedway during his attempt at The Double.
Last week at Watkins Glen, Chris Buescher became the spoiler, and no playoff driver had a particularly good race, with Larson being the third-best playoff driver, finishing in 12th.
Joey Logano, the only driver locked into the playoffs at the start of the race, spun out on lap 242 while running in the 12th position; he would go on to finish 28th.
Christopher Bell locked into the playoffs after securing points in the first stage, and Alex Bowman followed after securing 13 points between the first and second stages.
Martin Truex Jr, Ty Gibbs, Brad Keselowski, and Harrison Burton become the first four players to be eliminated from the 2024 NASCAR Playoffs.
