Krispy Kreme offers free donuts in honor of today's nationwide cellphone outage

Krispy Kreme has a sweet deal to counter all of your cellphone service annoyances.

The donut chain is handing out free original glazed donuts from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday night in honor of the nationwide cellular outages on Thursday.

“While your service is down, we’re serving up! FREE Original Glazed doughnut from 5-7pm today for anyone who’s struggled with service 🆘📱Look for the Hot Light!” an Instagram post from Krispy Kreme read.

On Thursday morning, AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile customers reported service issues, according to NBC News and CNN.

Per service tracking site DownDetector, AT&T customers reported increasing issues, with a peak outages of nearly 75,000, early Thursday. Numbers were leveling off at around 9 a.m. ET., per the site.

It was not immediately clear what triggered the service disruption, but as of 3:30 p.m. ET, AT&T said they had restored service to all impacted customers.

While it is only the glazed donuts that are freebies, Krispy Kreme also recently introduced its “Chocomania” collection.

The limited-edition baked goods, which first became available on Feb. 19, are “coated, filled and drizzled” with so much Hershey’s that the brand thinks they are its “chocolatiest creation ever,” per a release.

The Hershey’s galaxy brownie is the only stuffed dessert in the lineup. It takes a donut and fills it with dark chocolate fudge cream before dipping the whole thing in chocolate icing and topping with brownie pieces and rainbow sprinkles.

The Hershey’s black and white chocolate chip dream takes inspiration from another dessert: a black and white cookie, of course. An original glazed donut gets dipped in white icing and drizzled with chocolate icing. Plus, a sprinkle of mini chocolate chips adds a little extra crunch.

The Hershey’s chocolate iced is also made with Krispy Kreme’s original glazed donut. But this new menu item is dipped in a milk chocolate icing and drizzled with extra chocolate.

Last, but certainly not least, is the Hershey’s chocolate cake overload. A Hershey’s old-fashioned cake donut is dipped with milk chocolate icing and dolloped with dark chocolate fudge buttercream.
