Kate Beckinsale reveals she injured her back 'putting on a pair of leggings'

Kate Beckinsale suffered a "horrific" back injury last month while filming a movie – but she's joking about it now.

The "Underworld" actress detailed her trip to the hospital, revealing the way the incident happened during an appearance on "The Late Late Show with James Corden" Monday.

"Having done eight or 900 action movies, I hurt myself putting on a pair of leggings in a hotel room," the "Jolt" star revealed. And no, she wasn't filming a thriller, "running up walls or anything," but she was doing an "intense emotional drama."

"I was in my hotel room putting on a pair leggings and then it felt sort of like a guitar string snapped and everything was horrific, I mean worse than having a baby bad," she said.

She couldn't walk, lie down or sit down, she added, so when the ambulance arrived medics had to pick her up in a sheet "like a sausage" and put her on a gurney.

Beckinsale has recovered, but she joked about the medication they gave her at the hospital, saying it revealed what "kind of drunk" she would be, as she doesn't drink.

"So I'm not a kind of 'do you know who I am, have you seen all my films?' type which is a huge relief, so I’m really glad I’m not. But I am a 'everybody’s trying to steal my (expletive) ovaries' person," she quipped.

Beckinsale first shared about her hospital trip on Sept. 13 to Instagram, but didn't give many details. "Feeling a lot better. Thank you so much for your kind messages and love," she wrote alongside a selfie that showed off her hospital bracelet.

The British actress turned 48 in July and celebrated with a heartwarming reunion with her daughter, Lily Mo Sheen, who she hadn't seen in two years because of the coronavirus pandemic.

"Two years of not seeing your child is, to me, the most preposterous thought. It’s ridiculous," Beckinsale said on "Live With Kelly and Ryan" in July. The mother-daughter duo reunited in New York for "the best birthday," Beckinsale shared on Instagram.

Lily, 22, is also daughter to actor actor Michael Sheen and is following her parents’ lead, playing Nicolas Cage’s daughter in the upcoming 2022 film "The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent."

"She's off and running," Beckinsale told Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest. “Yeah, it's quite scary.”
