JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup and others pay up, Gas prices climb as summer nears

The three major stock indices (^DJI, ^GSPC, ^IXIC) are flat through the first half of the trading day. Don't expect it to last too long as investors keep a close eye on the FOMC minutes scheduled to be released later this afternoon. Janet Yellen and company have had a knack for moving the market.

Here are some of the other stories Yahoo Finance is keeping an eye on today.

Big banks pay up
Four of the world's biggest banks are pleading guilty to felony charges and paying a total of more than $2.5 billion in fines after settling charges they manipulated the currency market. Attorney General Loretta Lynch says JP Morgan Chase (JPM), Citigroup (C), Barclays (BCS) and Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) were a "cartel" that colluded to fix prices.

U.S. government concerned over server security
IBM's (IBM) deal to sell its server unit to China's Lenovo last year apparently is triggering U.S. government concerns about Chinese spying. The Wall Street Journal reports the Navy may drop some IBM servers currently used in weapons systems because of security issues.

Gas prices and the summer driving season
We're just a couple of days away from the Memorial Day weekend and the start of the summer driving season. AAA says today the price of a gallon of unleaded is $2.72 --  that's up 20 percent since the beginning of the year but still about 90 cents a gallon below what it was Memorial Day last year.

Spotify's new bells and whistles
Music streaming service Spotify is launching video content to complement it's existing audio component. In a press event earlier this morning here in New York the company demonstrated the new feature that had been whispered about for the past week.
