Yahoo Finance John Force Leaves Hospital, Enters Outpatient Care
NHRA Funny Car icon John Force was released from the hospital on Tuesday, a month after his harrowing 300-mph crash into a concrete wall.
The crash, which occurred at Virginia Motorsports Park on June 23, left Force with a head injury, leading to an extended hospital stay that saw the 75-year-old move from a trauma i.c.u. to a neurological i.c.u. and finally an acute neuro care facility. After 30 days, that stay has finally come to a close.

In a statement shared on social media, John Force Racing says that the team's owner-driver was discharged from Phoenix, Arizona's Barrow Neurological Institute on Tuesday. That means Force can finally go home, but his treatment is not over quite yet. The next steps are occupational and physical therapy, which the team's statement states will "address lingering short-term memory and cognitive issues."
Force's daughter, NHRA Top Fuel champion Brittany Force, shared photos of her father's recovery on Instagram to mark the occasion. One picture shows the elder Force smiling alongside both Brittany and another of his children, NHRA Funny Car race winner Courtney Force.
Force's recovery remains a long process, but Tuesday's announcement is good news. The racing legend will now be able to face that long road in a familiar and comfortable environment.
