Infiniti Reveals New SUV Design with QX Sport Inspiration Concept
Infiniti, Nissan Group’s premium car brand that is based in Hong Kong, will showcase its QX Sport Inspiration midsize luxury SUV concept at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show (April 25–May 4). The QX Sport Inspiration concept features elements of Infinit’s new sleek “Powerful Elegance” design direction for upcoming luxury SUVs, which could be used on future redesigns of the QX70 midsize crossover SUV or perhaps the smaller QX50 crossover.
The QX Sport Inspiration concept features “muscular haunches, a long, smooth hood, and a coupe-like silhouette,” with a wider stance and higher ground clearance than previous Infiniti midsize SUVs, according to the automaker. A signature double-arch grille, eye-like headlights, crescent-cut C-pillar, and masculine body sculpting are trademark design elements. The rear end is coupe-like with blade-shaped tail lights. More vents are incorporated into the new design for cooling and aerodynamics, Infiniti says.
A panoramic glass roof that is color graded to shade rear passengers extends from the header rail to the rear cargo area. A premium cabin is appointed with two-tone black and white leathers with silver stitching and accents of natural tan leather. A recessed step finished in gloss black aids entry and exit for passengers in the 5-seat concept SUV. Hard black saddle leather also lines the floor and kickplates, with laser-cut, back-lit Infiniti logos.
From a motoring perspective, drivers can switch driving modes with a dial on the center console and change gears with steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.
