Indie Film Queen Parker Posey Lists Greenwich Village Co-op

SELLER: Parker Posey
LOCATION: New York City, NY
PRICE: $1,450,000
SIZE: (approx.) 800 square feet, 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom

YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: As we first learned from the eagle-eyed kids at Curbed, authentically offbeat indie film queen Parker Posey put her modestly proportioned cooperative apartment in a plum, full-service pre-war building on New York City’s lower Fifth Avenue up for sale at $1.45 million. The beloved low-budget movie maven — she has a co-starring role in the star-studded Woody Allen rom-dramedy “Café Society” that premiered to flaccid reviews at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival and will take a no-doubt delightfully wacky turn through Christopher Guest’s mockumentary “Mascots” due out later this year on the streaming service Netflix — purchased the one-bedroom and one-bathroom apartment in 2008 for $1.35 million.

The approximately 800-square-foot sixth-floor pad has a picayune foyer with coat closet and cheeky-glam gold foil wallpaper and there are gorgeous original herringbone pattern hardwood floors and a cushioned window seat flanked by open bookshelves in the 20-foot-long living room. The walls and ceiling of the dining area just off the living room are courageously painted matte black and the slightly tight but expensively appointed adjoining galley kitchen — also painted black with what appears to be some sort of funky snake skin patterned material applied to the back splashes — opens at its rear end to a storage room that is unusually spacious for a small Manhattan apartment. A short hall, off of which open a walk-in closet and graphically wallpapered bathroom, links the living room to the corner bedroom where listing photographs show a brass bed shoved somewhat uncomfortably up into the corner of the room and, in the opposite corner, an armchair in which listing photos show Miss Posey herself, along with her fluffy white pooch, a Bichon Frise named Gracie, reading Mary-Louise Parker’s 2015 epistolary memoir “Dear Mr. You“.

We can’t claim any inside intel on Miss Posey’s future real estate plans in New York City but we do know she continues to own a 16-plus-acre country getaway with a mid-19th-century farmhouse and a swimming pool near the tiny town of Ghent in the heartbreakingly picturesque Hudson River Valley in Upstate New York that she bought, per property records, in February 2007 for $650,000 from Tatum O’Neal.
