This IAC Insider Increased Their Holding By 117% Last Year \

Viewing insider transactions for IAC Inc.'s (NASDAQ:IAC ) over the last year, we see that insiders were net buyers. This means that a larger number of shares were purchased by insiders in relation to shares sold.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

IAC Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when Independent Director Michael Eisner bought US$5.0m worth of shares at a price of US$47.91 per share. That implies that an insider found the current price of US$53.10 per share to be enticing. That means they have been optimistic about the company in the past, though they may have changed their mind. We do always like to see insider buying, but it is worth noting if those purchases were made at well below today's share price, as the discount to value may have narrowed with the rising price. The good news for IAC share holders is that an insider was buying at near the current price. The only individual insider to buy over the last year was Michael Eisner.

Insider Ownership

Another way to test the alignment between the leaders of a company and other shareholders is to look at how many shares they own. We usually like to see fairly high levels of insider ownership. IAC insiders own 12% of the company, currently worth about US$549m based on the recent share price. I like to see this level of insider ownership, because it increases the chances that management are thinking about the best interests of shareholders.
