Hollyoaks spoilers follow.
Mercedes McQueen has a threat to worry about, after making peace with step-daughter Cher in Hollyoaks.
Mercy has run afoul of the scheming Donna-Marie Quinn, who overheard her son Romeo and Mercedes discussing their one-night stand.
In Tuesday's (July 27) E4 first-look episode, Mercedes was intent on making Cher pay after discovering she'd been the one to stitch her up for baby Eva's kidnapping.
Cher decided to flee the village after being confronted by Mercy, forcing Romeo to intervene and convince Mercy to help him get his girlfriend to stay.
When Mercedes found Cher at the train station, the two enemies finally had a breakthrough as Mercy questioned whether Cher had learned her lesson.
"Cher, you have done some bad, bad things but the question is, would you do any of it ever again?" Mercedes asked her step-daughter.
After Cher said she regretted her behaviour, Mercedes explained to her: "Good, but listen Cher, you need to get some help. Not just for what you've done to me, but what you're doing to yourself."
Mercedes then promised that as long as Cher followed through, she would keep everything a secret from Sylver.
"I don't want any more pain or suffering for any of us," Mercy insisted. "Just, please stick to your word, and I promise, I'm going to try my best to fix this."
Mercedes may have thought she'd come through the worst of her recent struggles, only for Donna-Marie to secretly confront her with a threat.
Donna-Marie had overheard Mercedes and Romeo's earlier conversation, and was now going to make Mercy "pay" for sleeping with her son!
Hollyoaks currently airs new episodes from Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
