Hollyoaks' Cher finally agrees to get help

The following article contains discussion of themes including suicide that some readers may find upsetting.

Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Cher McQueen has agreed to get help after trying to take her life in Hollyoaks.

In Tuesday's first-look episode on E4, Cher was still reeling from being rejected by Sylver and Romeo. She tried to get into The Loft, even trying to flirt with Warren in a moment of desperation.

Warren also rejected her, threatening to call her dad to come to pick her up. Cher was furious over another rejection as she fled in the rain.

At the same time, Mercedes was encouraging Sylver to reach out to Cher for a second chance because she felt "there's a place" for his daughter in his life in spite of her misdeeds.

Cher was over at the dock, where she desperately tweeted that she needed someone to talk to. Bobby actually spotted the alarming tweet and showed it to Sylver.

Sylver rushed over to find Cher standing over the edge of the dock, but he couldn't get to her before she leapt into the water.

Later, Sylver was shown at the hospital explaining to Mercedes and John Paul that Cher was being checked for secondary drowning, where fluid floods the lungs.

Mercedes admitted to John Paul that she didn't think Cher had simply slipped into the water. With Sylver at her bedside, Cher at first lied that she passed out walking by the pub.

Sylver knew Cher wasn't truly opening up to him, but when he left the room, Mercedes entered to insist Cher tell her the truth about all she'd been going through.

Cher finally opened up about being homeless and feeling like she had nobody she could turn to, admitting to Mercy: "I just wanted the pain to stop. I couldn't see another way out."

A tearful Mercedes promised her: "There is always another way out. Even when you don't think there is, there is… You are not alone. Your dad cares for you. I care for you.

"Every scabby member of our family cares for you!"

The close of the episode had Sylver remaining at Cher's bedside as she slept, while he looked back on memories of where he hadn't been supportive of his daughter. He ultimately walked out.

Cher saw him leaving the ward, just as Misbah approached to encourage her to accept a care plan. Finally, Cher agreed to accept help.

"So, you'll stay?" Misbah asked, with Cher nodding in agreement.
