If you’re attending a wedding, either as a guest or as a member of the wedding party, you’re going to want your makeup to last all day long. When you throw warm temperatures and lots of dancing (or happy tears!) into the mix, it’s even more important to find makeup that'll last from the bride's walk down the aisle through the very last dance at the reception.

To help narrow down the best long-wearing makeup for weddings, we asked Crystal Aleman, a bridal makeup artist and owner of Crystal Marie Bridal, to share her must-haves for wedding day makeup.

Flawless-looking and long-lasting makeup starts at the base, so it’s imperative to begin application with a primer that’ll work like glue to hold your makeup in place throughout the big day's festivities. Aleman’s personal favorite for oily skin is the Embryolisse Hydra-Mat primer, which will leave skin looking matte. The formula claims to sop up excess oil with cornstarch while still moisturizing with vitamin E.

To prep normal-to-dry skin types, Aleman recommends the popular Laura Mercier Pure Canvas Primer. The water-based makeup primer promotes moisture with olive extracts, "marine hydra botanicals" and glycerin while also extending the wear-time of complexion products. If you’re applying your makeup early in the day and need it to last through the evening, you can count on this formula to grip your makeup.

In conjunction with a makeup primer, you'll want a long-wearing foundation to make sure your complexion products last all day. Aleman recommends the M.A.C. Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation to anyone looking for an option that can provide medium-to-full coverage. The sweat- and humidity-resistant formula claims to feel weightless, and it's available in 23 shades with neutral, warm or cool undertones.

To add dimension to your skin after foundation, Aleman recommends the Nars Mini Blush/Bronzer Duo. “It’s small enough to fit in your clutch,” she explains, which is key for mid-day touch-ups. The compact includes the blush color called "Orgasm" (shimmery peach-pink) and the bronzer hue "Laguna" (deep golden brown) to add a natural wash of color that looks as gorgeous in photos as it does in person.

Aleman suggests setting your foundation with pressed powder to ensure your makeup will stay put and shine-free. “I love using translucent powder to soak up oils,” she says. “Use a velour puff and really press the product into the skin.” The Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Microfinishing Pressed Powder aims to blur the skin and reduce shine to keep you looking fresh-faced. The powder is available in three shades: translucent for light to medium skin tones, yellow for medium to tan skin tones and peach for darker skin tones.

The M.A.C. Prep + Prime 24-Hour Extend Eye Base aims to keep eye makeup, including eyeshadow and liner, looking vibrant for up to 24 hours. The formula claims to prevent creasing, fading and running, which is why Aleman recommends applying this cream primer on the eyelids before a long day of happy tears, dance-induced sweat and photos. Whether you're going for a natural wedding makeup look with little eyeshadow or planning an elaborate smokey eye, this will keep your great work in place.

When it comes to eyebrow pencils, very few are as long-lasting as the Thrive Causemetics Infinity Waterproof Eyebrow Liner. “I personally worked with a client going through chemotherapy during the time of her wedding [who] had lost most of her lashes and all of her eyebrows," Aleman says. "I used the lash glue, liner and brow pencil from Thrive Causemetics and even in the scorching August sun, her look lasted all day and all night.” This retractable pencil is available in five shades to suit blond, auburn, brown, black and gray hair.

Weddings can be emotional. To prevent your eyeliner from streaming down your face, reach for a waterproof one, like the Physicians Formula Felt Tip Eye Marker. “This product is affordable, applies easily and, best of all, is waterproof,” Aleman explains. The marker-like, matte-finish eyeliner claims to last up to 24 hours but remove easily with makeup remover.

Just like your eyeliner, you want to reach for a waterproof mascara to ensure tears won't result in ink stains on your cheeks. Reviewed's top pick for a waterproof mascara is the Tetyana Naturals 4D Silk Fiber Lash Mascara because glides on to the lashes with zero clumps and offers volume and length that'll enhance your eyes. Plus, it didn't budge even when Reviewed's tester submerged her face in water.

Spritzing a makeup setting spray all over the face can help makeup meld together post-application and prevent it from fading throughout the day. Aleman recommends the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray for this step. “This spray locks in the look and helps with oils and sweating,” Aleman says. “It’s amazing in the summer months.” The spray claims to prevent smudging, transferring and creasing for up to 16 hours.
