Halloween Kills has only just come out in the UK and already we've been promised an extended cut with an alternate ending. For horror fans, we imagine that's like Christmas coming early.
Director David Gordon Green has been speaking to Collider about the latest entry in the revived series, when he teased the bonus footage that fans will get on the disc versions (and we're assuming digital purchases too): "(The cinematic version) is the director's cut through and through, but there's an additional scene that we filmed that was scripted. And actually I think is a pretty brilliant scene.
"So we're going to do an extended version on the DVD, just so people can see an extended ending that's different and cool. We ended up lifting it when I became more confident of where we're going to pick up in the next movie, it felt it didn't feel authentic to where we're going to go.
"I think it was cool in its own right as watching a one-off movie, but knowing where we're going to... where we're going to pick up – which you'll know in a year – it wasn't the right look in the eye that we needed to give the audience."
Essentially, what it looks like he's saying is that the alternate ending will be more of a direct setup for the sequel Halloween Ends. You can read our thoughts on how this film sets up the next entry right here.
Halloween Kills not only sees Jamie Lee Curtis return once again, but also features a Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star reprising her role from the first film 40 years on.
Unfortunately for her, she had a bit of nasty injury on set, breaking her nose while rehearsing a fight scene with Michael Myers.
Halloween Kills is out now in cinemas and is also available to watch on Peacock in the US.
