H-E-B announces opening date for Mansfield grocery store, the second in Tarrant County

H-E-B will be opening a new store in Mansfield on June 26.

The store’s grand opening will be held at 6 a.m. on opening day. Located at 1670 E. Broad St., the store will be near U.S. 287.

The Mansfield location will be the second H-E-B in Tarrant County, and is expected to employ over 700 people. The company broke ground on the 118,000-square-foot store in February 2023.

The beloved San Antonio-based grocer has rapidly expanded in the Metroplex in recent years.

The first Fort Worth store, located in Alliance, opened in April. Hundreds of shoppers lined up before dawn ahead of the grand opening.

A third H-E-B is confirmed for Tarrant County, this one in the northeast. The store will be in Glade Parks, at the northwest corner of Cheek-Sparger Road and Rio Grande Boulevard, on the Bedford-Euless border. It is expected to open in the second half of 2026 and will feature a True Texas BBQ, gas station and car wash.

H-E-B opened stores in Allen and McKinney last year. Under construction are locations in Melissa and Prosper, as well as a second Frisco store. H-E-B plans to break ground on a location in Rockwall at the corner of I-30 and South John King Boulevard on June 27.

Meanwhile, the company’s first Joe V’s Smart Shop in North Texas opens June 12 in Dallas, at 4101 W. Wheatland Road.

H-E-B operates more than 435 stores in Texas and Mexico with annual sales of $43 billion. The company has over 160,000 employees.

Disclosure: H-E-B is a funder of the Star-Telegram’s Crossroads Lab. The company has no influence over editorial decisions.
