  • Grimes told Wired that her son with Elon Musk is a "little engineer" who is obsessed with space.

  • X Æ A-Xii, who is three, gets upset when his toy rockets are not "anatomically correct," she said.

  • Grimes shares two children with Musk. The couple are no longer together, but are on good terms.

Grimes said she's stopped giving toy rockets to her 3-year-old son X Æ A-Xii, who she shares with SpaceX founder Elon Musk, because he gets upset if they're not "anatomically correct."

In a wide-ranging interview with Wired's Steven Levy, the Canadian singer said the former couple's son often attends SpaceX business meetings with his father because he's obsessed with space and rockets.

"X knows a lot about rockets. It's crazy. He knows more about rockets than me," she said. "We had to stop giving him toys because if they're not anatomically correct, he gets upset."

"He's a little engineer, for sure. But his obsession with space is bordering on, 'Is this healthy?'" she added.

Grimes, whose given name is Claire Boucher, also said that when SpaceX's massive Starship rocket exploded after its test launch in April, X had a "three-day PTSD meltdown."

"Every hour, he was waking up and going, 'Starship …' and I had to rub his back," she said.

X Æ A-Xii — pronounced "X A.I. Archangel" — was born in May 2020. He was Grimes' and Musks' first child together.

Grimes previously tweeted that their son gets frustrated when playing with toy rockets. "'Fuckin rocket is too fuckin heavy' – my 2 ur old son after his toy rocket failed to reach orbit," she said.

In March 2022, Grimes revealed that they also had a baby girl named Exa Dark Sideræl Musk, or "Y," via a surrogate. She said she tried to change the name to a symbol this year, but that the government won't officially acknowledge it.

"She's a little engineer too," Grimes told Wired about her daughter. "She likes industrial shipping. She's very strange."

Musk and Grimes unveiled their relationship at the Met Gala in May 2018. In September 2021, Musk told Page Six they were "semi-separated" but were on great terms.

Last year, Grimes told Vanity Fair that she and Musk are "very fluid."

"We live in separate houses. We're best friends. We see each other all the time," she added.

Musk has nine children with three different partners. Insider's Julia Black previously reported that Musk had secretly fathered twins with Shivon Zilis, one of his top executives at Neuralink, born weeks before his daughter with Grimes.
