Greece's white flag; Insurance mega merger; New Balance's new groove

Investors on both sides of the Atlantic are applauding the possibility of a deal between Greece and its creditors this morning.

Stocks (^GSPC) (^IXIC) (^DJI) are rallying on news Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras  may accept most of the bailout terms by creditors after the country missed a debt payment to the IMF yesterday.

Economic data back in focus in he U.S.  Businesses added a better-than-expected 237,000 jobs in June according to payroll processor ADP. This comes ahead of tomorrow's closely watched jobs report.

Mega merger

Chubb (CB) shares are surging in early trading. The insurer of luxury homes and yachts is being bought by rival ACE for $28.3 billion in cash and stock. Shares of ACE (ACE) are also sharply higher on the news.

Fiat Chrysler (FCAU) shares are higher this morning. The automaker is reporting its best U.S. June sales since 2006. U.S. sales rose 8.2% in June as demand for Jeep and Chrysler vehicles remained strong. Ford (F) and General Motors (GM) are also due to report monthly sales figures today.

General Mills (GIS) shares are on the move in early trading. The company behind brands such as, Cheerios and Yoplait yogurt reported better-than-expected earnings per share in its fiscal fourth quarter, but revenue missed analysts' forecasts as the stronger dollar took a toll on sales. The company is also struggling to adjust to a shift in consumer tastes in the U.S.

AeroVironment (AVAV) shares are flyin high after the maker of drones saw a 17% jump in revenue in its fiscal fourth quarter thanks to big demand for unmanned aircrafts.  Earnings per share also beat estimates but profit fell from a year earlier as the company increased spending on research and development.

Nike (NKE) is in focus this morning.  The chairman and co-founder of the sportswear maker, Phil Knight, is planning to step down after more than 45 years with the company. Knight announced he will transfer his 15% stake in Nike to a limited liability company. Nike expects to name a new chairman in 2016.

New Balance's big ad blitz

New Balance is taking aim at Nike with a major advertising spree.  The shoemaker is launching a global ad blitz twice the size of any ad campaign in its 100 year history.

Tthe price of an apartment in Manhattan is skyrocketing. Average sale prices of co-ops and condominiums reportedly reached $1.87 million, which is the highest in over 26 years.
