OTTAWA, ON--(Marketwired - November 12, 2015) - Martin Short will headline the Canadian Wildlife Federation (CWF) Goose Gala presented by Rogers as it returns to Toronto's prestigious Four Seasons Hotel on Thursday, April 14, 2016. The gala is the Canadian Wildlife Foundation's largest fundraising event, raising over $250, 000 in its first year. Following the success of the inaugural event in 2015, tickets are already 25% sold and available through GooseGala.org.

Short is a celebrated comedian and actor who has won fans and accolades in television, film and theater since his breakout season on Saturday Night Live. He was awarded the Order of Canada in 1994 and was inducted into the Canadian Walk of Fame in June 2000.

"We are excited to have a star like Martin Short lend his immense talents to our fundraiser," says Wade Luzny, CEO of the Canadian Wildlife Federation. "The Goose Gala presented by Rogers provides CWF with an important opportunity to inspire conservation ethic and action. The inclusion of Martin and other notable Canadians only strengthens CWF's Canadian roots and helps share our cause."

The gala is held annually during National Wildlife Week (April 10-16, 2016) and this year will highlight the 100th anniversary of the Migratory Bird Treaty through our theme: Giving Wings to Wildlife Conservation. CWF is focusing on our winged friends such as butterflies, songbirds and bees, all of which are in decline due to habitat loss, impacts from pesticides, and climate change. The gala continues to raise funds for the CWF 'Wild by Nature' campaign which directly impacts our wildlife in the sky.

Hosted by renowned Canadian broadcaster Brian Williams and featuring National Wildlife Week ambassador and former judge on Canada's Next Top Model Yasmin Warsame, the Goose Gala will be an evening of entertainment, education and wildlife celebration.

The Goose Gala is presented by Rogers Communications and supported by HSBC. "Our sponsors are critical to helping our cause take flight," says Dr. Bernie Gosevitz, Foundation Chair. "These companies share the values and mission of CWF and are committed to helping conserve wildlife in Canada." For additional sponsor and event information, please visit goosegala.org.
