Georgina Bloomberg Just Sold a Spare Manhattan Apartment for $4 Million

Having upgraded about five years ago to a spacious nine-room co-op apartment on a high floor of a deluxe prewar building with premium views over Central Park, billionaire heiress Georgina Bloomberg, an accomplished equestrian, and the youngest daughter of Michael Bloomberg, has sold a no-longer-needed spare apartment on a lower floor of the same distinguished building along a plum stretch of Central Park West.

Listed last fall for $3.95 million, a bit below the $4 million records show was paid for the sixth floor spread in late 2013, the two-bedroom unit has been sold for its full asking price. Listing agents Lisa Tarnopol Deslauriers and Linda Reiner at Coldwell Banker Warburg declined to comment.

The apartment’s traditional architecture is offset with contemporary light fixtures and custom wall treatments.

Originally configured with three bedrooms and three bathrooms, there are now just two bedrooms, as one was converted into a spacious dressing room within the primary suite. Glamorous details include gleaming herringbone oak parquet stained dark brown, chunky beams across the ceiling in the living room, and an array of eye-catching contemporary light fixtures and bespoke wall treatments.

The intimate foyer leads to the almost 28-foot-long fireside living room. Red and white wallcoverings in a layered crosshatch pattern adorn the adjoining dining room, which conveniently provides a couple of small closets for linens and other table-scaping doodads. The spacious eat-in kitchen has been updated with white Shaker-style cabinets, gray-veined white marble counters, and stainless-steel designer appliances, while the service entrance was converted to a long, slender home office.

Shiny jet-black walls inject a dose of drama into the guest bedroom, and the guest bath off the kitchen includes a laundry closet, so there’s no need for anyone to schlep to the building’s common laundry room. The primary suite is spacious with a corner bedroom, two ensuite bathrooms, both with a window, and several closets plus a fitted dressing room for which just about any space-starved fashionista would happily give up an almost impossible-to-come-by appointment to view a lusted-after Birkin bag at Hermès.

What was originally a third bedroom has been converted to a dressing room within the primary suite.

The understated red-brick building, designed by the architecture firm Schwartz & Gross and erected in the late 1920s, makes a stately 17 story rise atop a two-story limestone base just a block south of the legendary Dakota apartment house. Converted to a co-op in the mid-1950s, white-glove amenities include a resident manager, an attended lobby with concierge services, and elevator operators. The building also offers a common laundry room, a bike room, and private storage, as well as a state-of-the-art health club that runs residents $120 a month, according to listing information.

In addition to the larger, park-view apartment that records show was acquired in 2019 for almost $10.2 million, Bloomberg, a member of the bronze medal-winning team at the 2015 Pan American Games and the keeper of a menagerie of pets, also maintains Gotham North, a horse farm in North Salem, New York, as well as Gotham South, a substantial estate in the exclusive Mallet Hill enclave in Florida’s equestrian epicenter of Wellington.
