Gavin Rossdale Buys Most Expensive House in Studio City

A newly constructed, cutting-edge contemporary in the increasingly pricey foothills above Studio City sold for $7.6 million, and celebrity real estate snitch Lucy Spillerguts swears the new owner is Gavin Rossdale, lead singer of the 1990s rock band Bush, who is — of late, anyways — better known as veteran pop star Gwen Stefani’s jilted ex-husband. The sale price sets a record for the rapidly gentrifying if still relatively unsung community, according to listing agent Roger Perry at Rodeo Realty.

Prominently sited at the end of a gated drive at the high point of a 1.3-acre ridgeline promontory with panoramic views that sweep across a vast swath of the San Fernando Valley, the not-quite-8,000-square-foot house has six en-suite bedrooms and a total of 6.5 bathrooms. Glass-walled, open-plan living spaces include a double-height living room with fireplace and a sleek kitchen that incorporates a climate-controlled wine room. A family room with wet bar opens through a disappearing bank of glass sliders to a huge deck and terraced backyard with an outdoor kitchen, a swimming pool, and three fire pits. The property has a comprehensive home automation system and state-of-the-art security. One luxury that’s lacking: a tennis court — surprising to this property gossip, considering Rossdale is a die-hard player and fan.

Though he moved out last year to a rented house in Bel-Air, Rossdale and Stefani continue to co-own a 12,000-square-foot contemporary in the guard-gated Summit enclave between Beverly Hills and Studio City they bought that property in 2006 for $13.25 million from hospitality entrepreneur Sam Nazarian. The estate was previously owned by Jennifer Lopez.
