Gabriel Resources Ltd.: Rosia Montana-Special Committee of Parliament-Report Timing Extended

TORONTO, CANADA--(Marketwired - Oct. 23, 2013) - Further to the announcement of September 18, 2013, Gabriel Resources Ltd. ("Gabriel" or the "Company") (GBU.TO) provides an update on the status of the draft legislation related to its majority owned Roşia Montană gold and silver project ("Project") and the development of mining activities in Romania ("Draft Law") that is subject to debate in the Romanian Parliament ("Parliament").

Through a decision of the Parliament, the deadline for submission of the report of the Joint Special Committee of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate ("Special Committee") on the Draft Law has been extended. The findings, conclusions and proposals of the Special Committee are now due to be submitted to the Standing Bureau of the Senate by November 10, 2013, following which that body will debate the Draft Law and a non-binding recommendation on its adoption is expected to be taken. Thereafter the report of the Special Committee and the Draft Law would be sent to the Chamber of Deputies, as the decision-making body of Parliament.

The Special Committee was established with the objective to (a) examine the Draft Law initiated by the Government, as well as any amendments submitted by the Government, deputies and senators; (b) prepare a report for discussion in each chamber; and (c) facilitate a decision on the adoption of the Draft Law in a plenary session of each Chamber.
