TSX rises 0.06% to 17,511.75

The Toronto Stock Exchange's TSX rises 0.06 percent to 17,511.75

Leading the index were Seabridge Gold Inc , up 5.9%, Pretium Resources Inc , up 5%, and Alamos Gold Inc , higher by 4.9%.

Lagging shares were CGI Inc , down 7.7%, Chemtrade Logistics Income Fund <CHE_u.TO>, down 6.5%, and Spin Master Corp, lower by 3.6%.

On the TSX 123 issues rose and 103 fell as a 1.2-to-1 ratio favored advancers. There were 38 new highs and 1 new low, with total volume of 169.0 million shares.

The most heavily traded shares by volume were Bombardier Inc , Aurora Cannabis Inc and Canadian Natural Resources Ltd.

The TSX's energy group rose 0.25 points, or 0.2%, while the financials sector slipped 0.41 points, or 0.1%.

West Texas Intermediate crude futures fell 0.62%, or $0.33, to $53.15 a barrel. Brent crude rose 0.29% , or $0.17, to $59.68 [O/R]

The TSX is up 2.6% for the year.
