Earnings Highlights and Summary

For the three months ended September 30, 2017, Expedia' s revenues increased 15% to $2.97 billion from $2.58 billion in Q3 FY16. The revenue numbers were below analysts' expectations of $2.98 billion.

For the reported quarter, the Company' s gross bookings increased 11% to $22.20 billion from $20.00 billion in Q3 FY16.

During Q3 FY17, Expedia' s gross profit increased 15.9% to $2.51 billion from $2.16 billion in Q3 FY16. For the reported quarter, the Company' s gross margin increased 70 basis points to 84.5% of revenue from 83.8% of revenue in Q3 FY16.

During Q3 FY17, Expedia' s adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) increased 6% to $709.27 million from $666.69 million in the same period of last year. For the reported quarter, the Company' s adjusted EBITDA margin decreased 190 basis points to 23.9% of revenue from 25.8% of revenue in Q3 FY16.

For the reported quarter, Expedia' s selling and marketing expenses increased 21% to $1.46 billion from $1.20 billion in Q3 FY16. During Q3 FY17, the Company' s G&A expenses decreased 15% to $141.30 million from $165.83 million in the comparable period of last year. Segment Details

Core OTA - During Q3 FY17, Expedia' s Core OTA segment' s revenue increased 11.1% to $2.31 billion from $2.08 billion in the comparable period of last year. For the reported quarter, the segment' s adjusted EBITDA increased 3% to $737 million from $714 million in Q3 FY16. For the reported quarter, the Company' s gross bookings increased 8.5% to $18.46 billion from $17.01 billion in the third quarter of 2016.

trivago - During Q3 FY17, Expedia' s trivago segment' s revenue increased 22.5% to $338 million from $276 million in the corresponding period of last year. For the reported quarter, the segment' s adjusted EBITDA was negative $8 million compared to positive $6 million in Q3 FY16.

HomeAway - During Q3 FY17, Expedia' s HomeAway segment' s revenue increased 45.2% to $305 million from $210 million in the same period of last year. For the reported quarter, the segment' s adjusted EBITDA increased 63% to $126 million from $77 million in Q3 FY16. For the reported quarter, the Company' s gross bookings increased 43.5% to $2.01 billion from $1.40 billion in the third quarter of 2016.

Egencia - During Q3 FY17, Expedia' s Egencia segment' s revenue increased 12.5% to $126 million from $112 million in the comparable period of last year. For the reported quarter, the segment' s adjusted EBITDA increased 13% to $20 million from $18 million in Q3 FY16. For the reported quarter, the Company' s gross bookings increased 9.4% to $1.73 billion from $1.58 billion in the third quarter of 2016.

Balance Sheet

As on September 30, 2017, Expedia' s cash and cash equivalents increased 80.3% to $3.24 billion from $1.80 billion as on September 31, 2016. For the reported quarter, the Company' s long-term debt, excluding current maturities increased 18.2% to $3.74 billion from $3.16 billion in Q4 FY16.
