Frederick Huntsberry Sets Record in Cheviot Hills

A covert communique from unimpeachable real estate bean-spiller Tom E. Joad let us know that Paramount chief operating officer Frederick Huntsberry paid not quite $5.9 million for a newly constructed neo-Cape Cod-style mansion in the historically affluent if relatively unheralded Cheviot Hills area of Los Angeles. The sale price is the highest ever recorded for a single-family home in the conveniently central neighborhood just south of Century City. The nearly 8,500-square-foot residence sits high above the street, and stands three stories tall with eight bedrooms and six full and three half bathrooms. A cavernous double-height foyer with barrel-vaulted ceiling opens to formal living and dining rooms, and the expansive, expensively equipped eat-in kitchen adjoins one of three informal family gathering spaces.

A trio of en suite guest/family bedrooms on the upper floor are joined by an oversized master suite, and there are two more guest or staff bedrooms on the ground floor, along with a game room, walk-in wine cellar with tasting room, state-of-the-art home theater, and a four-car tandem garage. The upper section of the bilevel backyard has a dining terrace, outdoor kitchen, and cabana with wet bar and bathroom, and the plunge pool and spa on the upper terrace waterfalls over a towering stacked-stone wall to a lower pool next to a loggia just outside the living and family rooms on the residence’s main level.

The property was represented by Sally Forster Jones at John Aaroe Group. Property records indicate the showbiz industry veteran also owns a mid-century modern in the Trousdale Estates area of Beverly Hills, as well as a low-slung desert getaway that backs up to a Palm Springs golf course.
