Vivien Killilea / Stringer / Getty Images TOMS founder Blake Mycoskie believes success comes from following your passion.

Blake Mycoskie, the 38-year-old founder and chief shoe giver of TOMS, was struck by the idea for his business while on a farm in Argentina.

Eight years and over 100 million shoes later, his company is expanding into coffee. (Not to mention that he's one of Business Insider's sexiest CEOs.)

When we asked Mycoskie — whose company hinges on a one-for-one giving model where each purchase by a consumer funds an equivalent gift to people in need — what he wishes he'd known about money in his 20s, he told us:

In my 20s I wish I knew that the best advice for any person is to follow their passion as opposed to chasing money. I've seen time and time again that the people who foster their true passions and true callings are the ones that end up the most successful.

It's hard in your 20s not to worry about money, but to focus on making sure you do something you love. Today, I feel like every time I've made a decision at TOMS that I'm passionate about and improves someone's life, the company grows and makes more money.

If, however, you don't have a strong passion, you may want to check out what Tim Ferriss has to say about the value of having strong skills.
