The 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is slithering closer to production, and the Blue Oval is teasing its most powerful Mustang variant with a new overhead shot that gives us our best look yet at the muscular pony car.

As we know from Ford’s previous teaser image, the 2020 GT500 will wear a tall Audi-like grille, massive lower-fascia vents, and a large front splitter. This latest photo, however, adds even more context to the model’s exterior styling, as the model’s blistered fenders, vented hood, and large rear wing are on full display. The details mostly mirror what we’ve seen on GT500 prototypes captured by spy photographers.

While Ford remains mum on the GT500’s mechanical details, the Shelby-badged pony car is all but certain to be motivated by a supercharged 5.2-liter V-8 that’s rumored to produce more than 700 horsepower. Unlike the naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V-8 in the GT350, which uses a flat-plane crankshaft, the GT500’s engine-code-named Predator-will use a conventional 90-degree crankshaft.

We anticipate the GT500 will make its debut any day now. When it does, expect the super Stang to pack a level of performance and a price that’s competitive with the $63,795 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and the $67,340 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat.
