Florida on Monday reported 391 more deaths and 4,789 additional COVID-19 cases to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, according to Miami Herald calculations of CDC data.

Only 174 of the newly reported deaths — about 45% — occurred since Nov. 1, according to the Herald analysis. About 24% of the newly reported have died in the past two weeks, the analysis showed.

In all, Florida has recorded at least 3,689,788 confirmed COVID cases and 61,538 deaths.

The CDC did not release Florida COVID figures on Thanksgiving, Friday and Sunday, causing an artificially lower seven-day case and death average than where state averages currently stand.

Looking at these lower averages, in the past seven days the state has added 56 deaths and 1,226 cases per day on average, according to Herald calculations of CDC data.

FLORIDA COVID VACCINE RATES

About 13,172,459 eligible Floridians — 61.3% of the state’s population — have completed the two-dose series of either the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccines or have completed Johnson & Johnson’s single-dose vaccine, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

VACCINATIONS IN SOUTH FLORIDA AND MANATEE COUNTY

Here’s how many people have been fully vaccinated in South Florida and Manatee County, according to the CDC.

In Miami-Dade County, about 2,114,869 people, or 77.8% of the county’s total population, are fully vaccinated.

In Broward County, about 1,271,244 people are fully vaccinated, or 65.1% of the county’s population.

In Palm Beach County, about 919,381 people are fully vaccinated, or 61.4% of the county’s population.

In Monroe County, about 54,003 people are fully vaccinated, or 72.8% of the county’s population.

In Manatee County, about 231,066 people are fully vaccinated, or 57.3% of the county’s population.

COVID-19 hospitalizations in Florida

There were 1,228 people hospitalized for COVID-19 in Florida, according to a Monday report by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, which compiled data from 241 Florida hospitals. Hospitalized COVID patients dropped by 71 from Sunday’s report, when 256 hospitals submitted data.

COVID-19 patients take up 2.29% of all inpatient beds in the latest report’s hospitals, the same as reported in the previous day’s report.

Of the people hospitalized in Florida, 263 people were in intensive care unit beds, a decrease of 13. That represents about 4.59% of the state’s ICU hospital beds, compared to 4.50% the previous day.

The Miami-Dade County report no longer includes hospitalization information.
