Financials surging on rumors of a Deutsche Bank settlement

Stocks (^DJI, ^GSPC, ^IXIC) are rallying at the midday mark on the last trading day of Q3. Financials (XLF) are leading the way on rumors of a Deutsche Bank settlement with the Department of Justice, while utilities (XLU) are in the red. Keith Bliss of Cuttone & Co. joins us live from the New York Stock Exchange.

Survey exposes details of wage gap for millennial women

More troubling news about the wage gap. And this time it’s about millennial women. A new survey by McKinsey and Co. and Leanin.org finds that 23% of millennial women think they’re getting left behind. It also takes a look at the home life of gen-y couples. And on that front, it finds that the division of labor at home being about the same as their parents.

New joint banking app lets you see what partner spends

Money and romance are not always a good mix. But an online bank in Oregon called Simple says it has a better way to share money than traditional joint accounts. The “Simple Shared” app lets each person see how the other one is spending money from the joint account—in real time! It’s designed not just for married couples but also for roommates and parents and kids. And each person has his or her own account, in addition to the shared pool of money. One app, two people, three accounts. Got it?

Hackers hijacking home web devices to launch attacks

There are growing concerns this week about hackers launching attacks through so-called smart devices used in homes and businesses that are connected to the Internet. The latest attacks reportedly involved as many as one million Chinese-made security cameras, digital video recorders and other infected devices. Hackers used the devices to generate webpage requests and data that knocked their targets offline.
