Fast-casual craft taco restaurant plans expansion with 2 new Charlotte-area locations

Two new locations of Tacos 4 Life, a fast-casual taco chain that donates meals to fight childhood hunger, are planned for the Charlotte area.

In Charlotte, you’ll soon find Tacos 4 Life on Kenilworth Avenue in Dilworth, not too far from Bakersfield and Duck Donuts. An opening date and other details have not yet been released.

In Mooresville, the new Tacos 4 Life restaurant will be in the former Cantina 1511 space next to Blu Star Grill. It’s expected to open in the fall.

The restaurant offers craft tacos with flavors such as mango habanero, Korean BBQ steak, Hawaiian shrimp, crab cake and seared tofu. Other options include salads, rice bowls, nachos and quesadillas.

When the new restaurants open, there will be five locations of Tacos 4 Life in the area. The Arkansas-based company is known for its Meal 4 Meal program, where the restaurant donates a meal to a child in need through the nonprofit organization Feed My Starving Children.

The Mooresville location is co-owned by father and son Ed and David Babcock.

“As longtime supporters of the Feed My Starving Children organization, deciding to open a Tacos 4 Life location was a natural choice for us,” David Babcock said in a news release.

Construction started last month on theMooresville location, a 4,500-square-foot space that will include a covered patio and reserved parking spots for those who order to-go or via the Tacos 4 Life app.

“The Babcocks’ dedication to excellence and community service make them the perfect fit to bring this new location to Mooresville,” Austin Samuelson, co-founder of Tacos 4 Life, said in the release.
