Fashion blogger Brittany Xavier’s clean beauty routine is perfect for sensitive skin

Internet It-girl Brittany Xavier launched her style blog in 2013 and has since amassed a loyal following. The fashionista has 1.7 million Instagram followers and 200,000 YouTube subscribers — not to mention she’s worked with a few notable luxury designers like Givenchy, YSL and Cartier.

Xavier gave In The Know a peek at her clean beauty skincare routine.

About two years ago, she began to experience inflammation around her mouth and nose. When dermatologists told her to switch up her diet, she followed suit, but her skin didn’t have the transformation she expected.

“During that process, I researched so many different products I didn’t realize weren’t clean that I was putting on my skin and were potential irritants. That inspired me to shift exclusively to clean skincare,” Xavier tells In The Know.

Clean beauty refers to brands that use predominantly natural ingredients combined with synthetic ones that are safe for humans and the environment.

Step 1: Cleanse with Éminence Clear Skin Probiotic Cleanser

Xavier (and her 14-year-old daughter) wash with the probiotic cleanser twice a day.

“It has a really balmy feel and I just massage it into my face. I love this brand,” she says. “I’m actually obsessed with the different creams they have as well.”

Step 2: Tone with Thayers Facial Toner

She follows up her cleanser with an alcohol-free, fragrance-free witch hazel toner by applying it with a cotton round.

“I like to prep my skin with a toner for serums. This one I love from Thayers,” Xavier explains. “I just drop a little onto the pad and focus mainly on my T-zone area because that’s usually more of the problem area. It’s very balancing for my skin.”

Step 3: Apply serum with Farmacy Filling Good

Xavier is “obsessed” with the Farmacy skincare line and this serum was no exception. Its nonsticky texture and instant plumping effect make it easy to slather on.

“It’s a hyaluronic serum but it actually plumps your skin within the first minute,” she says. “It smells like honey. I just press into my skin, it smells so nice. I really concentrate on the areas with the fine lines, especially on my eye area. Then I like to push on my cheeks.”

Step 4: Treat eyes with The Things We Do Youthful Eye Jelly

She opts for an eye jelly, freshly cooled from her beauty fridge because it’s less heavy than most eye creams.

“This eye jelly is such a nice consistency,” Xavier says. “I put it a little on my ring finger and you just pat it around your eye area and it’s just a nice cooling lift. It hydrates without being extra heavy.”

Step 5: Moisturize with Suntegrity 5-in-1 Tinted Sunscreen

With 20 percent zinc oxide, this tinted sunscreen provides moisture while keeping your skin safe from sun damage.

“This goes on really, really light and dewy,” she says. “Usually, zinc oxide has that thick white pasty feel but this one is tinted so I use it as a primer because it’s very moisturizing. It’s really light and goes on more like a lotion.”
