This quarter, analysts are expecting Wabtec's revenue to grow 8.7% year on year to $2.62 billion, slowing from the 17.5% increase it recorded in the same quarter last year. Adjusted earnings are expected to come in at $1.88 per share.

The majority of analysts covering the company have reconfirmed their estimates over the last 30 days, suggesting they anticipate the business to stay the course heading into earnings. Wabtec has missed Wall Street's revenue estimates twice over the last two years.

Looking at Wabtec's peers in the heavy machinery segment, some have already reported their Q2 results, giving us a hint as to what we can expect. Greenbrier's revenues decreased 21% year on year, missing analysts' expectations by 10.9%, and Lindsay reported a revenue decline of 15.4%, falling short of estimates by 3.6%.
