Existing home sales hit 5.04 million units in April, vs. expectations of 5.24 million

A limited supply of listings continues to push home prices higher-so much higher that 10 states and D.C. hit new home price peaks in May.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters forecast existing home sales to increase only by 1 percent for the month of April, or 5.24 million units. That would follow a jump of 6.1 percent in the previous month, or 5.19 million units.
