EUROPE POWER-Day-ahead prices mixed, wind supply to rise

FRANKFURT, July 14 (Reuters) - European prompt power prices were mixed on Thursday with Germany's falling on prospects for increased wind power supply and France's gaining on a pick up in demand as the Bastille Day holiday ended.

German baseload power for delivery on Friday was 7.2% lower at 333 euros ($332.30) a megawatt hour (MWh) at 1400 GMT and the equivalent French price rose by 4.1% to 404 euros.

However, the French price was lower than the 415 euros indicated for Friday delivery at Wednesday's close.

Daily wind power output in Germany was forecast to rise to 17.2 gigawatts (GW) on Friday from 13.1 GW on Thursday and that in France was due to rise to 3.1 GW from 2.2 GW, Refinitiv Eikon data showed.

French daily nuclear availability remained at the much reduced 47.2% of installed capacity reached on the previous day.

Production cuts are expected to start at the 3.6 GW Blayais French reactor on July 19, due to high temperatures on the Gironde estuary.

Power consumption in Germany was seen falling by 1.1 GW to 55.9 GW day-on-day ahead of the weekend while that in France was expected to gain 2.6 GW to stand at 47 GW in the same period.

Along the curve, German year-ahead baseload power lost 2.7% to stand at 355 euros/MWh, led by gas and oil losses.

The French 2023 baseload contract was untraded after closing at a contract high of 477.5 euros on Wednesday.

European CO2 allowances for December 2022 expiry eased 0.5% to stand at 83.43 euros a tonne.

Nominations for Russian gas flows into Slovakia from Ukraine via the Velke Kapusany border point were steady, while flows via the Nord Stream 1 pipeline remained shut due to maintenance.

The European Union will encourage member countries to cut gas demand by incentivising industries to use less, as it prepares for possible further cuts to Russian supply. ($1 = 1.0021 euros) (Reporting by Vera Eckert, editing by Kirsten)
