With EPS Growth And More, Invicta Holdings (JSE:IVT) Makes An Interesting Case

The excitement of investing in a company that can reverse its fortunes is a big draw for some speculators, so even companies that have no revenue, no profit, and a record of falling short, can manage to find investors. Sometimes these stories can cloud the minds of investors, leading them to invest with their emotions rather than on the merit of good company fundamentals. Loss making companies can act like a sponge for capital - so investors should be cautious that they're not throwing good money after bad.

If this kind of company isn't your style, you like companies that generate revenue, and even earn profits, then you may well be interested in Invicta Holdings (JSE:IVT). While profit isn't the sole metric that should be considered when investing, it's worth recognising businesses that can consistently produce it.

How Fast Is Invicta Holdings Growing Its Earnings Per Share?

Invicta Holdings has undergone a massive growth in earnings per share over the last three years. So much so that this three year growth rate wouldn't be a fair assessment of the company's future. Thus, it makes sense to focus on more recent growth rates, instead. It's good to see that Invicta Holdings' EPS has grown from R4.08 to R4.90 over twelve months. That's a 20% gain; respectable growth in the broader scheme of things.

One way to double-check a company's growth is to look at how its revenue, and earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) margins are changing. EBIT margins for Invicta Holdings remained fairly unchanged over the last year, however the company should be pleased to report its revenue growth for the period of 8.1% to R7.8b. That's a real positive.

Invicta Holdings isn't a huge company, given its market capitalisation of R2.7b. That makes it extra important to check on its balance sheet strength.

Are Invicta Holdings Insiders Aligned With All Shareholders?

Theory would suggest that it's an encouraging sign to see high insider ownership of a company, since it ties company performance directly to the financial success of its management. So those who are interested in Invicta Holdings will be delighted to know that insiders have shown their belief, holding a large proportion of the company's shares. Indeed, with a collective holding of 72%, company insiders are in control and have plenty of capital behind the venture. This should be seen as a good thing, as it means insiders have a personal interest in delivering the best outcomes for shareholders. In terms of absolute value, insiders have R1.9b invested in the business, at the current share price. That's nothing to sneeze at!

Should You Add Invicta Holdings To Your Watchlist?

One important encouraging feature of Invicta Holdings is that it is growing profits. If that's not enough on its own, there is also the rather notable levels of insider ownership. These two factors are a huge highlight for the company which should be a strong contender your watchlists. Now, you could try to make up your mind on Invicta Holdings by focusing on just these factors, or you could also consider how its price-to-earnings ratio compares to other companies in its industry.
