Elon Musk's college sweetheart is auctioning off the billionaire's college mementos – some that had bids of more than $10,000 on Monday.
The tech entrepreneur's former girlfriend Jennifer Gwynne is selling photos and Musk memorabilia from their relationshipusing Boston-based RR Auction.
Gwynne dated the Tesla and SpaceX CEO in 1994 when they were in their early 20s and studying at the University of Pennsylvania, according to a news release the auction company shared with USA TODAY.
During that time the former couple both lived and worked as Resident Advisors in the "Spruce Street" part of the college dorm.
Items in the live auction include 18 candid photos of a young Musk and other trinkets from their year of dating. One photo shows Musk in what appears to be a dorm room typing on a computer. As of Monday morning it had garnered a high bid of $1,355.
At that same time, the item with the current highest bid ($10,001) was a signed birthday card, followed by a gold necklace gifted to Gwynne on her birthday ($5,999).
"Happy Birthday, Jennifer (aka, Boo-Boo), Love, Elon," reads a note on the card.
The necklace includes an emerald from a mine owned by Musk's father Errol, a South African property developer and engineer, according to the release.
"When we went to visit Elon's mother in Toronto during the Christmas break of 1994, Elon gave me both the small 'love, love, love' note and the necklace," Gwynne said in the release. "His mom had a number of these necklaces in a case in her bedroom, and Elon told me they were from his father's emerald mine in South Africa – he pulled one from the case. And because I had not gotten him anything as a Christmas gift (and I felt very guilty about that), he said we would consider the necklace an early birthday present for me."
The jewelry also comes with two photos – one of Musk and Gwynne with Musk's mother, the model Maye Musk, and one of Musk and Gwynne at a 1995 formal.

HSBC Holdings Plc is reviewing expenses and operational controls at its China digital wealth business Pinnacle, in a move that could result in layoffs and mark an abrupt reversal of the lender's ambition for the unit, several sources said. As part of the review, the lender is looking at staff salary structures and probing whether suppliers inflated expenses, contributing to a sharp spike in costs that outpaced revenues, according to five sources familiar with the matter. The review, which has not been previously reported, started a few months ago, the sources said, requesting anonymity because the conversations are confidential.

Countries are likely to default more frequently on their foreign currency debt in the coming decade than they did in the past due to higher debt and an increase in borrowing costs, agency S&P Global Ratings warned in a report on Monday. Sovereigns' credit ratings overall have also weakened globally in the past decade. The report's findings are a stark warning as the world exits a punishing round of sovereign debt defaults - even as wealthy creditor nations said earlier this year that the risk of debt crisis that has weighed on the world was beginning to recede.
