Drones And Dunes: 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor Shown Testing In New Video

Compared to some of the extreme, fan-shot videos we've seen of the Ford F-150 Raptor, these shots of the the 2017 models testing in Michigan sand dunes are pretty tame.

At no-point, for example, does the hero truck jump 90 feet and land severely enough to deploy its airbags.

That said, the birds-eye perspective the drones lend the action is pretty cool, and the footage makes a great complement to the dune-demolishing stills Ford delivered back in July.

Set to go on sale later this Fall, the all-new Raptor will swap the previous generation's V-8 for a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6, which is expected to deliver at least 450 horsepower, meaning it'll be 40 hp up on the eight-pot models. And thanks to aluminum construction, the new beefy off-roader has shed 500 pounds.

A ten-speed automatic—developed in cooperation with arch-rival GM—will put the power to the ground, and a host of off-road goodies, like an available Torsen limited-slip front differential, standard Fox Racing Shocks, and a trick Terrain Management System, will ensure next-gen Raptors will prove formidable contenders once the pavement stops.

Here's hoping we get a chance to flog the new one in Baja like we did its predecessor.
