Discount air service NewLeaf to offer flights from Calgary over holiday season

Discount air service NewLeaf to offer flights from Calgary over holiday season

The new low-cost air travel company NewLeaf is adding Calgary to its growing list of destinations — at least for the holiday season.

The Winnipeg-based company will offer fares to and from Calgary International Airport to Abbotsford, Hamilton, Halifax, and Moncton from Dec. 16 to Jan. 8 next year.

NewLeaf flights are operated by Kelowna-based Flair Airlines.

"We actually didn't anticipate to be operating from Calgary within the first five months of operation, however there is a big demand from Calgarians," said NewLeaf president Jim Young in a statement.

"So, we are thrilled to provide Southern Albertans with low fares for the holiday season."

The company launched in January, but only began offering flights in July.

Last month the company announced that service to several cities — including Regina, Saskatoon, Kamloops and Victoria — would be suspended as it works on establishing a core set of routes.
