Could This Hamilton x The Matrix Watch Be The One?

We’re all familiar with the style of The Matrix, right? The shiny leather coats. The tiny sunglasses. The Studio Line hair. The 1970s-style digital watches. Yeah, you remember! The 1970s-style digital watches! The ones that played a pivotal role in that scene where the Sentinels attack the Nebuchadnezzar and Trinity confesses her love for Neo to the Oracle?

Alright, so there were no digital watches in The Matrix.

But that hasn’t stopped the watch company Hamilton launching a Matrix–inspired version of its PSR model to tie-in with The Matrix: Resurrections, in cinemas later this month.

And to be fair, it does make more sense than plenty of other movie tie-ins we could name. The PSR is a version of the Pulsar, the model that basically invented digital watches fifty years ago (a story we told at length in our annual watch special The Big Watch Book last year).

And, you know: numbers… digits… The Matrix… Plus, Hamilton can lay some claim to be the OG of watch companies “in the movies”. Elvis wore a Hamilton Ventura in Blue Hawaii. Tony Sark wore a Hamilton Ventura Skeleton Alton in Spider-Man: Homecoming. And Matthew McConaughy’s Hamilton Khaki Field Murph Automatic really did have a pivotal role to play in Interstellar.

The PSR MTX comes in Matrix black with green LCD numerals. The case-back recreates the movie’s “digital rain” effect (see, numbers!). The watch measures 40.8mm x 34.7mm and is water resistant to 100 meters.

It’s launched today and has produced been produced in a limited run of 1,999. Anyone? It’s the date the first Matrix movie came out.

Woah.

Now you’re beginning to believe.
