Costco Is Selling 4 Bottles Of Wine For $40K & Experts Say It's A Good Deal

Shocked Costco customers did a double-take after discovering the price tag for a 4-pack of wine currently for sale at the warehouse. A photo of the costly set of Burgundy recently went viral on Reddit, and for good reason. In the photo shared online, the cost of the wines can be seen in big bold letters: $39,999.99. Yep, just a penny shy of $40,000 for four bottles of wine.

Even more surprising? While the price is high to say the least, several Redditors revealed that it's actually a pretty good deal. That's because the wine is from Domaine de la Romanee-Conti, a winery in Burgundy, France, and it's extremely rare.

"Holy shit they had Romanee-Conti at a Costco? To answer your question, it’s a super limited production wine from Burgundy that is considered by many people to be the best wine in the world," one person wrote.

We haven't tried it, but if it's one of the world's best Burgundies, it probably pairs well with a $1.50 hotdog.

Grand Cru Liquid Assets, a wine brokerage firm located in Carlsbad, California, currently has a single bottle of Domaine de la Romanee-Conti 2019 listed for $22,950.

If you don't happen to have $40K just casually lying around, but still love a good red (or white), it turns out that the wine team at Costco really knows their stuff.

"Know a sommelier and restaurant executive and he says Costco's wine team is some of the best in the business. Supposedly have the authority to buy an entire batch if they like it," read one comment.

Surprisingly, this set of wine isn't the first lavish product Costco has offered to customers. Last year, shoppers were shocked to find that the warehouse was selling a massive 157-piece Le Creuset set for $4,500. And yes, at least one person actually bought it!
